Here are some “must-seen” destinations during your stay in the Lot region :
Cahors, labeled “City of Art and History” and ranked among the “Great Sites of Midi-Pyrénées,” is located just 20 minutes from our establishment. Explore its treasures such as the famous Valentré Bridge, the cathedral with its historic frescoes and fascinating stained glass windows. A piece of advice: view them first from the inside before admiring them from the outside for an astonishing visual surprise!
The village of Saint-Cirq Lapopie, voted the most beautiful village in France in 2012, offers a spectacular view from above. Just 20 minutes from our location, take the towpath from Bouzies to reach this picturesque village. Choose another route towards the lock and the mill for a different perspective before arriving at Saint-Cirq Lapopie.
Rocamadour, a renowned medieval city and pilgrimage site, is nestled in the Dordogne valley just 50 minutes from our establishment. Perched on a cliff, this town is home to a basilica and a castle that dominates the surroundings. It’s a place of veneration for the Black Virgin, protector of sailors, and for Saint Amadour. Every year in September, the hot air balloon festival offers a remarkable spectacle.
Pech Merle Cave, just 20 minutes away from us, features authentic cave paintings that reveal traces of human life dating back thousands of years. Its moving atmosphere and authenticity make it a must-visit. It is strongly recommended to book your tickets online during the season due to high attendance and limited visitor capacity for conservation reasons.
The Phosphatières du Cloup d’Aural are a true initiatory journey that allows you to leap back 70 million years, exploring this open-air cave where each layer of rock tells a fascinating story. From the discovery of the geological formation of the phosphorites, to its extraction, the paleontological discoveries to the lush tropical vegetation, including moss waterfall, giant ferns and orchids, each step is a true adventure through time!
The passionate guides at the Plage aux Ptérosaures will take you back 150 million years to explore the animal species that once populated this seaside beach. The organizers have made use of modern techniques to enhance the visualization of this journey through time.
The Padirac Chasm, located 10 minutes from Rocamadour, fascinates with its legendary creation attributed to a strike of the devil’s foot. This geological marvel offers an impressive experience. Book your tickets online during the tourist season to avoid the crowds.
Finally, an hour’s drive from our facility, Lascaux 4 cave in Montignac, Dordogne offers an accurate reproduction of the famous cave, complete with modern rooms for a deeper understanding of prehistoric paintings and engravings. An immersive experience is offered with the option to revisit the cave equipped with a 3D helmet for an enhanced experience.
